Waves and Optics
Reflection and Refraction Required Practical
To investigate reflection and refraction of light and evaluate the accuracy of angle measurements.

What you will learn

How to set up reflection and refraction experiments

How to draw and use the normal line

How to measure angles with a protractor

How to record and compare ray paths

How to reduce errors in ray measurements
Explanation
Use a ray box to mark incident, reflected and refracted paths accurately. Draw normals and measure angles from them; compare surface reflection and trace rays through a transparent block. Keep the block’s position fixed while marking entry and exit points, use thin rays and never direct the ray into eyes. This required practical is Separate Physics. Example: State why the block outline is traced. It preserves the boundaries for constructing the ray diagram. Use clear labels. Justify your answer.
