Explanation

Irradiation means exposure to radiation; contamination means radioactive material is present on or inside an object. Ionising radiation can damage cells and increase cancer risk; contamination can continue exposing tissue after the external source is removed. Reduce exposure time, increase distance and use suitable shielding; prevent contamination with appropriate handling and containment. Example: Define contamination. Radioactive material on or inside something. Use clear labels. Use evidence.
