Global Energy Resources
To compare energy resources, including their reliability, environmental effects and suitability for different uses.

What you will learn

The difference between renewable and non-renewable resources

How different resources generate useful energy

Why reliability matters when choosing energy sources

How energy resources affect the environment

How to compare resources for a particular need
Explanation
Renewable resources are replenished as they are used; fossil fuels and nuclear fuels are non-renewable. Resources are used for electricity generation, heating and transport, with different environmental effects. Evaluate reliability, demand, cost and environmental impact separately; trends in resource use can be interpreted from data. Example: Explain why nuclear power is not renewable. Its fuel reserves are finite, even though operation has low direct carbon emissions. Avoid unjustified claims.
